Lot 334 Henry W. Lawton
US Army officer (1843–1899) who served with distinction in the Civil War for which he received the Congressional Medal of Honor, the Apache Wars, the Spanish-American War and was the only US general officer to be killed during the Philippine-American War. Ink signature, “H. W. Lawton,” on an off-white 4 x 1.5 slip clipped from the closing of a letter. Slip is affixed to an 8.5 x 11 scrapbook page along with a photo. In fine condition, with a vertical fold through one initial, a couple wrinkles, and pencil notation along top edge.
